Marlow and the Local Area

Marlow-on-Thames is a riverside town steeped in history and, today, a busy tourist attraction and commercial centre. It is just four miles from our bed and breakfast accommodation to High Wycombe, and four to Maidenhead.

  • Revellers come from all around to enjoy the town’s vibrant pub scene.
  • Our guest house is a convenient starting point for several circular scenic walks. It is an easy flat walk along the Thames from Marlow to Henley or Maidenhead.
  • There are many National Trust properties within easy reach of our bed and breakfast. The nearest is Cliveden just 6 miles away.
  • If you’re a bird watcher you can go on a day’s guided walk taking in a reservoir at Marlow to see 3 species of woodpeckers, kingfishers, ducks, waders, gulls…
  • Midsomer Murders filming locations – Did you know that Marlow and the Hambleden Valley have been filming locations for the long running ITV detective series, Midsomer Murders. You can find out more about the location trail here: Midsomer Murders Trail Map.

The Midsomer trail of Marlow and the Hambleden Valley is a self-guided trail which can be done on foot, by car, by bike or on horseback. In it’s 17 miles, you’ll visit 1 Midsomer town and 6 Midsomer villages, and will be surrounded by iconic scenes from the show, including Causton Library, from ‘The Black Book’, where the shopping trolley containing £2M ransom money is switched; Chiltern Valley Winery where much of ‘The Curse of the Ninth’ was filmed, and where you can do a wine tasting and tour, and Lacey’s farm where the victim was found dead in the dairy. The Two Brewers pub in Marlow has appeared twice, once in King’s Crystal and again in ‘Sauce for the Goose’ when the victim meets their untimely death beneath a tower of toppling relish bottles….

Of course, no visit to Marlow is complete without a walk along the Thames.
